Teen Drug Use: 73 Percent Use to 'Cope with School Pressure'
The Partnership for a Drug-Free America released its 20th annual survey of teen drug use Monday.
The results show 73 percent of teens who use drugs said the primary reason for use is “to cope with school pressure.” In previous years, the top reasons for use have been “looking cool” or “getting high.”
7 percent of parents in the national survey believe teens might use drugs to deal with stress.
What should parents do?
As kids prepare to go back to school, the Partnership for a Drug-Free America urges parents to visit TimeToTalk.org to learn how to talk to their kids about the risks of drugs and alcohol and help them handle stress in healthier ways.
